Usage Guide

1. Upload Image

Click the upload area or drag and drop an image file onto the page. Supports common image formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, etc. After uploading, the comparison between the original and compressed images will be displayed immediately.

All calculations are performed locally in your browser, data is never uploaded to servers, completely offline processing.

2. Adjust Compression Parameters

Click the 'Settings' button in the top right corner to adjust the following parameters:

Compression Quality: Drag the slider to adjust compression quality (10%-100%). Lower quality means smaller file size but more detail loss. Recommended: 70%-85%
Output Format: Select the output image format. JPG is suitable for photos with smaller file size; WebP has higher compression ratio but is not supported by some older browsers
Filename Mode: Choose the naming method for downloaded files. 'Mixed mode' preserves the original filename and adds a random suffix to avoid filename conflicts

3. Compare Compression Effect

After uploading an image, the page displays a comparison view of the original and compressed images:

Drag the divider: As you move the mouse over the image, the divider follows the cursor, showing the original on the left and compressed on the right
Zoom view: Use the mouse wheel or zoom buttons on the right to zoom in/out and examine compression details
Pan image: After zooming in, hold the left or middle mouse button to drag the image and view different areas
View data: The top left corner displays original size, compressed size, compression ratio, and current zoom level

4. Download Compressed Image

Once satisfied with the compression result, click the 'Download' button to save the compressed image. The filename will be automatically generated based on your selected naming mode. To select a different image, click the 'Re-select' button.

FAQ

Q: What compression quality should I set?

A: We recommend setting it between 70%-85%. This range significantly reduces file size while maintaining good visual quality. For web display, 70%-75% is sufficient; for printing or high-quality display, 80%-85% is recommended.

Q: What's the difference between JPG and WebP formats?

A: WebP is a modern image format developed by Google that can reduce file size by 25%-35% compared to JPG while maintaining the same visual quality. However, some older browsers (like IE) don't support WebP. JPG has the best compatibility and is suitable for scenarios requiring broad compatibility.

Q: Will compression lose image quality?

A: There will be some quality loss, which is characteristic of lossy compression. However, with reasonable quality settings (70%-85%), the difference is barely noticeable to the human eye. You can use the comparison feature to carefully examine the before and after effects before downloading.

Q: Why can't I zoom when the image is very large?

A: When the image's original width exceeds the display area, the system automatically scales the image to fit the display, and zoom functionality is disabled to ensure optimal display. You can still drag the image to view different areas.

Q: Does it support batch compression?

A: The current version does not support batch compression. For batch processing, we recommend using professional image processing software, or wait for our future version updates.

Q: Are the compressed images secure?

A: Completely secure. All compression processing is done locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server. Your image data always remains on your local device.
